How Anti-spam Filters in Spam Blocker Works. Step one.

Start the Spam blocker for web forms and load a page with a web form you want to protect

How Anti-spam Filters in Spam Blocker Works. Source form.

Source code of web form is highlighted with blue color.

Limitations in current version:

  • Only one web form per page. Actually, there may be several forms, but the program will find only first one. To protect all the forms on page, save protected html file and open it again. Next unprotected form will be found.

  • Only one <TEXTAREA> tag per form. In case of several tags only first one will be filtered.

Press Protect button and tune up the protection procedure

How Anti-spam Filters in Spam Blocker Works. Settings Form.

The settings are:

  • Protect tag names: add a script that hides real names of form's component and prevents web spiders from using them. May be useful for just created web forms but almost useless if the form has been already parsed and a spider knows real names. It's recommended either to turn this option off or use it along with manual renaming of form components and modification of handling script on web server.

  • Disallow empty messages: Anti-spam filter. The script replaces real "action" URL with empty one in case if TEXTAREA is empty.

  • Limit message length: Anti-spam filter. Humans do not write a lot of text in web forms. Spam robots do it.

  • Delay submit action: Anti-spam filter. The script hides real "action" URL for a while. Usually a few seconds are not enough to write any worth message for human beings. Spam robot provides you with tons of junk  in a moment.

  • Disallow "http:" and "[url" tags: Anti-spam filter. The script blocks Submit button if TEXTAREA contains at least one of these tags.

  • Don't use protection code: A web form will be encoded only. No scripts added. Use this option in case your form is already protected and you want just to hide the code. Spam spiders can perform javascript to parse the source code, so no extra security is gained.
